School Volunteers

GWCS welcomes families and community members to our school as key stakeholders in fostering collaboration to promote student success. We appreciate the added support our dedicated volunteers provide to our schools and students!

Volunteers must submit all required clearances and associate documentation in accordance with Pennsylvania state regulations to the Main Office. Clearances are required for all individuals with routine or direct interaction with students. All volunteers must complete a volunteer application and upload clearances prior to volunteering at a school or on a school trip.

Follow these steps to volunteer!

Step 1: Complete the three required clearances:
If you've been a Pennsylvania resident for ten consecutive years prior to the date of your volunteer application, you may sign a waiver in lieu of obtaining the FBI Background Check. This waiver is included as part of the application packet. If you require an FBI Background Check, please use code 1KG6XN and choose "Digital Fingerprinting" as the service when registering on the IdentoGO website.

Step 2: Upload the required clearances and complete volunteer application:

Visitor and Volunteer GuidelinesBook fair
In order to maintain a safe and orderly environment, it is Green Woods Charter School’s procedure that any parent, guardian, or visitor entering the school must first report to the front desk to sign in. A stick-on tag will be issued. It must be worn and returned when leaving. All guests/visitors will be directed or escorted to their destination by a staff member.  No one is permitted in the halls, lunchroom, classrooms, or outdoor spaces without prior authorization.

School volunteers are valuable members of the Green Woods Community, and our partners in education. By donating your time and talents, you help our students on their journey to become active young stewards of the natural world! Examples of volunteer activities include:
  • Assisting with classroom or building special events/celebrations (excluding public events such as concerts or graduation ceremonies)
  • Chaperoning a single day field trips
  • Volunteering with any of the school’s clubs or extracurricular activities
  • Advising or assisting an extracurricular activity
  • Providing supplemental assistance to a student
  • Volunteering in a classroom
