Application process for 2027-2028 School Year
Green Woods Charter School serves students in grades K-8. We are proud to partner with Apply Philly Charter for the application and lottery process.
What is a lottery?
Green Woods is a public charter school and admission is determined through a random lottery process. All applications submitted by the application deadline are entered into the lottery. Applying before the deadline does not improve your chances. Students who are not offered a seat through the lottery are placed on a waitlist and may receive an offer if a seat becomes available.

How do I apply?
- Applications for the 2027-2028 school year open on September 18, 2026 and close on January 15, 2027.
- Go to applyphillycharter.org on your phone, tablet or computer
- Create an account and fill out your family profile
- Select Green Woods Charter School
- Submit the application

What information do I need to apply?
- Parent/guardian’s name, email address and home address
- Student’s date of birth, current school and grade, and the grade applying for in the upcoming school year
What happens after I apply?
- The lottery will be conducted by Apply Philly Charter on February 1, 2027.
- If you apply by the deadline of January 15, 2027, you will receive the lottery results on February 8, 2027 directly from Apply Philly Charter. If you apply after the deadline, your student will be automatically added to the waitlist for the grade to which you have applied.
- The common acceptance date is Friday, February 22, 2027.
- Students who are not offered a seat through the lottery will be placed on a grade-level
waitlist. As seats become available, offers will be made to families in waitlist order.

Please Note that applicants must turn 5 years of age on or before September 1, 2027 to apply for kindergarten in the 2027-2028 school year. Proof of date and proof of residency are required for enrollment.

Upon acceptance through the lottery, in accordance with federal and state guidelines under the McKinney-Vento Act, Green Woods Charter School is committed to removing barriers to education that face students that are currently homeless, displaced, or in transition between homes.
