MTSS: Multi-Tiered System of Support
The Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) at Green Woods Charter School is a proactive, data-driven framework designed to meet the academic and social-emotional needs of all students. MTSS provides a structured approach to delivering high-quality, evidence-based instruction and interventions across three tiers of support. Through ongoing assessment, collaboration, and progress monitoring, we ensure that every student - regardless of their background or ability - receives the right level of support at the right time.
The goal of MTSS program is to maintain a comprehensive, proactive system of support that empowers both teachers and students to achieve academic and social-emotional success. Through the use of research-based instruction, targeted interventions, and ongoing assessment, we aim to meet the diverse needs of our school community and ensure that every learner has the opportunity to thrive.
If a student is exhibiting academic or social emotional needs, GWCS teachers and staff will make a referral to the MTSS Team for additional evaluation and recommendation. Families of GWCS students will be contacted if the MTSS Team determines a student would benefit from MTSS interventions. Interventions are implemented in an eight-week cycle and student success is monitored before a recommendation is made for additional support. It is important to note that students who do not respond to Tier III interventions may be recommended for a multi-disciplinary evaluation to determine eligibility for special education services.
