After School Sports

We are excited to announce that we will be participating in the Metropolitan Philadelphia Athletic Association again for the 24/25 school year. The MPAA provides Green Woods with the opportunity to participate in a variety of sports against a wide range of Philadelphia Charter Schools.

If your student is interested in participating in any sports at GWCS they will need a completed PIAA Physical, GWCS Transportation Waiver and MPAA Waiver before participating in any sport. If your child(ren) has recently had a physical exam the doctor will just need to fill the form out. Completed forms should be turned into Mr. Hunsberger. Linked below are copies of the three forms:

Spring Season: Boys and Girls Golf

The GWCS Golf Club is committed to creating a golf environment that prioritizes the health and well-being of young athletes and promotes their enjoyment and development in the game. It is our goal to shape well rounded individuals on and off the golf course.

We are excited to announce that Green Woods Charter School is partnering with First Tee at Walnut Lane Golf Club! Partnering with First Tee will provide our students the opportunity to participate in and learn the game of golf. This is a club where students will learn the various skills of golf and get playing time on the golf course. The GWCS Golf Club will take place on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30-4:30pm at Walnut Lane Golf Club from Wednesday, April 2nd through Wednesday, May 14th.

The GWCS Golf Club is for students in grades fifth through eighth. Transportation to the golf course will be provided by Green Woods. Students will need to be picked up from Walnut Lane Golf Club promptly at 4:30pm on Mondays and Wednesdays. Students participating in the running club will be unable to participate in the golf club due to the conflicting schedules.

Please use the below link to sign your son or daughter up for the GWCS Golf Club by Friday, March 14th by 3:30pm.

The GWCS Students Run Philly Style Team looks forward to many miles on the road where we can all grow as people and runners. This season, we will challenge ourselves to both set goals and reach them, as well as push ourselves past the boundaries of what we believe we are capable of achieving. You will be surprised at the end of this season how much stronger your students are mentally, physically, and emotionally. And - if they stick with us all year - they will be a Broad Street Run finisher!
