And just like that, January is over! It was a quick month but one filled with a number of events, activities, and learning. Our students completed their MAP test and have made some significant growth. Teachers will be sharing information with students in the coming weeks. Our basketball program continued with more games, our girls' team has remained undefeated, and the varsity boys' team have had a number of close games. Running club is back in session and the students have been able to get in some long outdoor runs with this unseasonably warm weather. Keep your fingers crossed for no snow - sorry, winter lovers! As we move into February, we are excited to celebrate Black History Month as a community! Students and teachers are planning a number of activities - including read alouds, research projects, arts projects and writing assignments - in their classes to celebrate the legacy of many African Americans throughout the month. Be sure to ask your students what they are learning or reading about in class! As a school, we will be sharing facts about and quotes from African American history, creating murals in each class that will be displayed, and we will end the month with a culminating event. Our student council and history teachers are working on that event now and more information will be shared. The school year seems to be flying by no matter how often we ask time to slow down. Please be sure to stop by and check out the amazing things happening at Green Woods if you have some time.
