Interesting Facts

Fact #1:  As Green Hawthorn ages, the bark peels to reveal patches of pale gray, orange, and cinnamon-brown. In winter, the trunk looks almost silvery-white.


Fact #2: Hawthorn wood is dense and rot-resistant. Historically, it was used to make tool handles, mallets, and wooden rakes. 


Fact #3: By fall, the flowers from the Hawthorn tree turn into small berry-like fruits called “haws,” which are eaten by birds and wildlife.
