Response to Intervention
At Green Woods Charter School, our Student Intervention Program (SIP) is better known as Academic and Behavior Response to Intervention (RTI). RTI is a multi-step process of providing educational support and instruction to children who are struggling learners. Individual student progress is monitored and results are used to make decisions about further instruction and intervention. At Green Woods, RTI is used in addressing problems with reading, math, or behavior. The RTI process is flexible and designed to meet the needs of all students.
If your child qualifies for Tier II or Tier III RTI support any time throughout the school year, you will hear directly from the classroom teacher, reading specialist, or math interventionist. It is important to note that students who do not respond to Tier III interventions and supports may be recommended for a multi-disciplinary evaluation to determine eligibility for special education services.
