At Green Woods Charter School, our Student Assistance Program (SAP) is better known as our Academic and Behavior Response to Intervention (RTI) Process. RTI is a general education framework through which the school provides all students with high-quality, research based, differentiated core instruction. Through this process, specific students may be identified with academic or behavioral needs and interventions are provided that are matched to those needs. Data is used to drive decisions about student progress and to determine the appropriate instructional plan and/or behavioral support necessary for a student to achieve grade-level success.
Green Woods utilizes a three (3) tier approach to efficiently accommodate for all students:
- Tier I: Core, Universal Instruction and Supports - General academic and behavior instruction/support is provided to all students in all settings.
- Tier II: Targeted, Supplemental Interventions and Supports - Students who are not responding to Tier I instruction/supports will also receive Tier II interventions. Tier II consists of supplemental support delivered in the general education setting while utilizing targeted, research based interventions. Students who do not respond to these interventions and supports may be moved into Tier III.
- Tier III: Intensive, Individualized Interventions and Supports - Students who are not responding to Tier I and Tier II instruction/supports will also receive Tier III interventions. Tier III utilizes intensive, research based interventions which are more individualized and delivered by the RTI teacher and/or school counselor in a small group, pull-out settting. Students who do not respond to Tier III interventions and supports may be recommended for a multi-disciplinary evaluation to determine eligibility for special education services.
