Lisa Wallace-Larkin, Special Education Teacher

Back in 2008 Lisa was thrilled to learn that her daughter Lillian would be attending Kindergarten at Green Woods Charter School.  The last two years she has been able to see firsthand the quality educational experience Lilli was receiving from the Green Woods community of educators, parents, and students.  When the opportunity to join the Green Woods faculty as a Special Education teacher was presented, it was a no-brainer that this was the place she wanted to be. 

Lisa is a graduate of Moravian College with a double degree in Clinical Psychology and Political Science.  She spent the next 7 years working with children and adults with a dual diagnosis of MH/MR. This experience led her to pursue her teacher certification and Masters in Special Education at Indiana University.  After moving back east to Philadelphia in 2005 she spent the next 7 years as a full-time mother.  During this time she devoted many hours to Living Beyond Breast Cancer as a Help Line volunteer which she continues to do to this day.  She feels extremely fortunate to be working alongside the gifted and caring teachers, wonderful students, and entire family that is the Green Woods Charter School community.  Lisa lives in Mt. Airy with her husband and two children.

I couldn’t be more proud to be part of the Green Woods community as both an educator and parent.  Working with those students who learn “outside the box” has always been my passion.  It has always been my philosophy to support these students in a way where they learn to own their education and become strong independent learners.  The fact that Green Woods uses research-based reading interventions, such as the Wilson Language program, Orton-Gillingham, and Lindamood-Bell says so very much about the dedication to quality individualized instruction based on the child as a whole.  I feel so fortunate to spend my days being part of this exceptional school and look forward to being part of its evolution as we look to grow and bloom!
