School Leadership Team (SLT)
The most critical element of successful school leadership
is Teamwork: the ability to communicate
and collaborate with all stakeholders. Teamwork promotes
inclusion, ownership and recognition, and results in
timely solutions, efficiency, motivation, goodwill and
excellence.
Creating a collaborative atmosphere is integral to Green Woods Charter School. This vision of collaboration is mandated in Green Woods' charter with the State of Pennsylvania. In addition, researchers who study educational leadership agree with our vision, viewing leadership as a shared process involving administrators, teachers, staff, students, parents, and community members.
The Green Woods School Leadership Team Model ensures
that important school decisions are made through a team
approach true to our vision, mission and charter: people
working collaboratively to meet the needs of our children.
To that end, teamwork is a school-wide mandate, part
of everyone's job description, requirements and expectations.
In addition, the Board of Trustees has established the
Home/School Committee (HSC) to provide an opportunity
for collaboration and team work between our parents,
teachers, administration, and board.
The School Leadership Team (SLT) is made up of two
leadership positions: the Academic Director and the
Business Director. In addition, Green Woods has an Administrative
Assistant who supports the SLT and also acts as the
Confidential Secretary to the Board of Trustees. The
Administrative Assistant works to help establish effective
communication between parents and the board by providing
a direct link from the Home/School Committee to the
Board of Trustees. Parents are asked to contact the
Administrative Assistant kbirmire@greenwoodscharter.org
when they need an immediate response to a concern or
to a non-academic issue.
All academic questions, concerns, or suggestions should
be directed to the classroom teacher and/or to the Academic
Director at jwallace@greenwoodscharter.org. Business
or facilities questions should be directed to the Business
Director at dlotkowski@greenwoodscharter.org
In addition to the SLT and the Administrative Assistant, Green Woods Special Education Coordinator and two Academic Coach positions, held by members of the Green Woods teaching staff, are actively involved in the decision-making process. Green Woods believes that by distributing the leadership to members of our teaching staff, we can model the success of effective collaboration and teamwork and better support the needs of our children.
