Dennis R. Winters is a policy and campaign advisor, and president of MWV Consulting. Prior to going into business for himself, Winters was coordinator of the Philadelphia Million Solar Roofs Partnership, a U.S. Department of Energy-funded coalition of area environmental groups, solar industry representatives, and solar system contractors/installers. Previously, Winters was employed by the Sierra Club for four years and by the Clean Air Council for seven years. He also worked 35 years as a mechanical design engineer.
Since, 1994, Winters has been employed full-time as a professional environmental program manager. Currently he is contracted to coordinate the Greater Philadelphia Clean Cities Program. The Program is a coalition of organizations and government agencies that promotes the use of ‘green’ vehicles and alternative fuels. Winters has been active volunteer on environmental issues at local, state, and national levels since 1970. He has received several awards including the Sierra Club’s Conservationist of the Year Award in 1995 and official recognition by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
Mr. Winters served ten years as the president of the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia and remains a member of the Coalition’s board of directors and its secretary. He also serves on the boards of West Philadelphia’s Neighborhood Bike Works, the National Trail Council of the East Coast Greenway Alliance, and the Energy Cooperative Association of Pennsylvania. He is Conservation Chair of the Southeastern PA Group of the Sierra Club and serves on its Executive Committee. In addition Winters serves as the Sierra Club’s state political chair. Winters also served six years as Chairman of the Regional Citizens Committee of the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission which is the agency charged by the federal government with regional transportation and land use planning in the Philadelphia metropolitan area. |
